Meet Heather! She's one of our newest coaches, but she has been with us as a member since our early days at our first location. Heather is always up for a good challenge, and her tenacity is infectious. As a coach, she loves being part of the reason our members keep coming back for more.
How did you find Crossfit?
When I joined 5 years ago, I had been following a friend on social media who was a member. It left an impression on me that even though the workouts were physical, they were achievable by anyone. All you had to do was show up and there was an option for you to participate along with the others in the class.
What do you love about CrossFit?
The physicality of the sport, really is a lot of fun. Everyday is different and you have the ability to look back at your past benchmarks and PR’s to track your progress for fitness, strength, time and flexibility. The learning curve never ends here and you are constantly challenging yourself through new movements and techniques. I started wanting to be stronger in the gym and have been exposed to so much more than that including dialed in nutrition, increased flexibility, tackling Olympic weight lifting movements and an intense cardio fitness threshold. CrossFit teaches you mental perseverance during adversity, and that crosses over to so many different aspects of daily life. I love doing it with my children and at 51, I now compete right along with Millennials and sometimes give them a run for their money!
Why do you love being coach or why you became a coach?
Being a coach is just another role of challenging yourself at CrossFit, the learning never ends. The main reason for member retention at our box are the coaches and community. I love being a part of the reason that they want to come back. The members here are some of the hardest working, sweat loving and supportive group of athletes I know. These people are gold and I like that I am given the opportunity to polish them up!
