This program is 100% beginner friendly.
Why Self Defense Training Matters

It doesn’t.

Learning how to read situations, recognize danger early, and position yourself to avoid problems entirely is one of the most powerful skills you can develop.
But if avoidance isn’t possible, knowing how to respond quickly and effectively can make a huge difference.

Living in the Mt. Washington Valley, many of our members spend time outdoors — hiking, running trails, traveling, and exploring.

Meet Your Coaches
This program will be led by Coach Paul and Coach Aimee.
Both bring extensive experience in law enforcement use-of-force training, along with martial arts backgrounds.
That means the techniques you’ll learn are:

Their goal isn’t to turn you into a fighter.
Their goal is to teach simple, effective tools anyone can use.
What You’ll Learn
Over the course of six weeks, participants will learn:
Situational awareness and prevention
How to recognize and avoid dangerous situations before they escalate.
Boundary setting
Tools to deter threats before physical contact ever happens.
Simple escape techniques
Effective movements to create space and escape if someone grabs or confronts you.
Leverage-based defense
How to use body mechanics instead of strength.
Realistic scenario practice
Safe drills that simulate real situations so you can practice responses.
Every class is designed to build confidence and capability step by step.
Who This Program Is For
This program is designed for women members of Swift River CrossFit who want practical self-defense skills.
It’s perfect if you:
- Want to feel more confident walking alone
- Spend time hiking or traveling
- Have never trained martial arts before
