I came to CrossFit in 2015. I wanted to increase my fitness level so I could say “YES” to impromptu hiking adventures, 5k runs, or bike rides. Frustrated with myself for not feeling fit enough to say “yes” to life, and terrified because I’d never been to a gym, I put my horrible 6th grade gym class memories aside and gave it a try.
CrossFit provided an unexpected challenge that fed my love for competition and ‘digging deep’- feelings that I hadn’t experienced since college athletics.
I’m thrilled to be a part of the Swift River team, along with my husband, Coach Bob, and our three young adult children.
I competed in cross country running at both the high school and collegiate levels, and ran indoor and outdoor track in high school. Cross country still holds a place in my heart, and I love getting out for a trail run- especially in the fall! My favorite track and field events were the 1600m and 3200m. I enjoy Nordic skiing, and have recently gotten hooked on biathlon. My favorite CrossFit workouts are chippers.
The first time I ever climbed to the top of the rope, I couldn’t believe my body had actually done it. I have a huge fear of heights, and overcoming that obstacle has translated into countless mind-over-matter moments for me. I never would have imagined that I would enjoy Olympic weightlifting, handstands or doubleunders- and now I look forward to them!
I have a passion for food and nutrition and am excited to help athletes find ways to make healthy eating a part of their daily fitness routine. Eating well does not have to be complicated, and I’m always looking for ways to make it more approachable for people who are trying to make changes in their eating habits. I am currently working on my Performance Nutrition Coaching Certification.
It is so energizing to see athletes of varying backgrounds and abilities come to the box and discover that they are stronger than they ever thought they could be. The best gains are often the ones that happen in the space between your ears…because those are the gains that give you the strength to say “yes” to life. I’m glad I did!
